Pregabalin

For an informed discussion with your doctor or pharmacist. This information collection is not a clinically validated interaction checker. Missing data do not establish safety. Do not change or stop prescribed medicines on the basis of this information. The findings apply to the specific conditions studied; laboratory and animal studies cannot be directly extrapolated to humans.

Active substance: Pregabalin

Examples of brand names: Lyrica [EU/DE]

ATC code: N02BF02

Main use (for orientation): Neuropathic pain; epilepsy; anxiety

Documented research summary

Two controlled laboratory studies (n=13/n=14) with pregabalin 300/450 mg daily and cannabis containing 5.9% THC showed mostly no change in cannabis effects. CL20 likewise found no significant association between CBD and drug concentrations. This does not establish general safety at other doses or in other patient populations.

Uncertainties and limitations

Human null finding applies only to the protocol studied. Do not extrapolate rat / mouse pharmacokinetic or pharmacodynamic findings to humans.

Separately recorded findings

1 separately recorded finding. Each statement applies to its documented study context.

CBD – clinical signals

Finding ID: B0070

Type of result: No / minor effect under the conditions studied

Observation: No concentration signal; p=0.2059.

Mechanism: PK observation

Study type: Observational study: no signal detected

Context studied: n=3.

Clinical interpretation: Not ruled out

Limitations and uncertainties: Context / limitations of CL20; a lack of statistical significance does not establish equivalence.
