Broad-spectrum or full-spectrum: what is the difference?
Short answer: full-spectrum and broad-spectrum CBD oils differ mainly in their cannabinoid profile and how THC is handled. Full-spectrum generally denotes a hemp extract with several cannabinoids, including THC. For broad-spectrum products, THC is specifically removed or reduced. However, the name alone does not establish a particular residual level. The specific composition and a laboratory report matching the batch are decisive. Neither term denotes a quality grade.
Concentration or spectrum: what are you comparing?
20% CBD denotes the stated CBD concentration. Full-spectrum and broad-spectrum, by contrast, describe the cannabinoid profile. Parmorcan® offers 20% CBD in both spectrum variants; the individual 30% CBD product belongs to the full-spectrum range. Compare concentration, spectrum and volume separately.
Our full-spectrum comparison page presents the two products with 20% and 30% CBD. The CBD information page explains the principles of cannabidiol.
THC-free: consider the product information and laboratory report together
For a traceable selection, compare the product description with the corresponding laboratory report. Check the sample tested, test date and the detection or quantification limits stated in the report. A general range description alone does not establish exact laboratory values.
‘Not detected’ does not mean exactly zero THC: the detection limit describes the amount above which a method can reliably detect a substance. The quantification limit concerns reliable numerical measurement. A result below this limit is therefore not automatically zero. ‘Broad-spectrum’ alone does not guarantee the absence of THC.
Sources for interpretation: Gidal et al. (2024): product labelling and analytical data; NIST: detection and quantification limits. These sources explain general principles; they are not investigations of Parmorcan® products.
Broad-spectrum CBD individually or in a set
Would you also like to explore CBG or CBN? The broad-spectrum CBD product is also included in our two- and three-bottle packs:
20% CBD + 10% CBG · Two-bottle pack
20% CBD + 10% CBN · Two-bottle pack
20% CBD + 10% CBG + 10% CBN · Three-bottle pack
Each percentage refers to the named individual product. The percentages are not added together to produce a combined concentration for a set. Further selection guides are available under Cannabinoid bundles.
