Etoricoxib

For an informed discussion with your doctor or pharmacist. This information collection is not a clinically validated interaction checker. Missing data do not establish safety. Do not change or stop prescribed medicines on the basis of this information. The findings apply to the specific conditions studied; laboratory and animal studies cannot be directly extrapolated to humans.

Active substance: Etoricoxib

Examples of brand names: Arcoxia [DE]

ATC code: M01AH05

Main use (for orientation): Pain; inflammation

Documented research summary

CBD–etoricoxib shows context-dependent combined cytotoxicity in glioblastoma cell lines. No clinical drug–drug interaction or treatment evidence; cell lines respond differently.

Uncertainties and limitations

Cell/animal models and uncontrolled observations cannot be directly applied to clinical dosing decisions.

Rare cannabinoids within the scope of 28 remain poorly documented where pair-specific findings are absent.

Separately recorded findings

1 separately recorded finding. Each statement applies to its documented study context.

CBD – laboratory and animal studies

Finding ID: B0324

Type of result: Preclinical

Observation: T98G: 25 µM + 25 µM combination increases apoptosis; U138MG: individual substances at 25 µM sometimes more effective than the combination. Therefore no general synergy claim.

Mechanism: Preclinical combined cytotoxicity/apoptosis, not an established pharmacokinetic mechanism.

Study type: Cell culture, T98G/U138MG

Context studied: 24 h exposure to free substances; PLGA-based polymer nanoparticles additionally developed and investigated.

Clinical interpretation: Clinical significance undetermined

Limitations and uncertainties: Tumour cell culture and high µM concentrations. Improved nanoparticle uptake is not a human pharmacokinetic interaction.
